9-year-old Ashley King says "using
ChromagenTM glasses is like going to school. When I don't use
them the letters go out to play (they jump, dance and run all
over the place), but when I wear them the words go back to class
to study."
I want to share my personal experience
with you and the solution we found to my dyslexic daughter's
visual problems by means of ChromagenTM lenses.
These chromized filters have changed
our daughter's life, and it is at her request that we are passing
on this information to as many people as may be interested,
so that they can, in turn, inform other parents of dyslexic
children or children with reading and writing difficulties that
there is a solution that could help them as well.
Our monthly expenses had been increasing even before we
discovered our daughter was dyslexic: special courses costing
3,000 euro per week to try to "visualize" the words
without an image, private classes after school Monday - Friday,
speech therapists etc. Considering that there is no cure for
dyslexic people according to all experts, we had accepted the
fact that these costs would continue at least until Ashley graduated.
However, when using ChromagenTM lenses, our daughter was
immediately able to control the movement of the letters and
see the words like she had never been able to do before. The
most unsettling thing is that until trying ChromagenTM lenses
Ashley was unable to explain how she saw things, because for
her what she saw was totally normal – she had never seen
anything else!
We would like to explain how we came
to find ChromaGen lenses and why our daughter believes that
it is essential to inform other children about her salvation,
which instigated the opening of the first ChromagenTM centre
to treat learining problems in Spain, Poland, Mexico, Texas
and South Florida.
Our daughter Ashley has recently turned
9 years old (with a certified IQ of 120 at 7), is fully bilingual,
but could not read nor write according to her age group level!
It was not until the end of second grade that Ashley was
diagnosed with dyslexia and that her teachers stopped treating
her as lazy, dumb; an immature learner etc. She was labelled
incorrectly because of the things she could not do: master the
most basic and fundamental tasks that are taught in school -reading
and writing-, which are essential for almost every subject.
At the beginning of first grade Ashley started to complain
that the words "jumped", and we took her to the ophthalmologist
for the first time. She was very happy when they prescribed
her with prescription glasses. What a relief! At last she knew
she was not dumb, she just needed glasses to see the blackboard
and the words on the page.
This sentiment was felt by the whole family as well. We
had all suffered from the daily stress and frustrations of dyslexia,
especially when we did not know that our daughter was dyslexic
and the teachers would tell us that she did not "perform
as well as she should", that she was "lazy",
that she was an "immature learner" etc. However, the
glasses did nothing to solve or ease the problem. If anything,
Ashley became more depressed and isolated.
Eye tests performed subsequently by an ophthalmologist concluded
that Ashley should have never worn glasses since the difference
was insignificant. (The experts we have talked to since finding
ChromagenTM tell us that they would not have looked for impairments
other than short-sightedness etc. during the tests because at
present they do not look for visual alterations along these
lines of ophthalmology). They acknowledge that they frequently
prescribe glasses without a real reason and that a prescription
of up to 0.75 is useless.).
All other resources were of no help either.
Ashley's self-esteem crashed to the ground, she shut herself
in her own world and sunk into a depression untypical of a young
child that had previously been very happy.
THEN, at the beginning of last year Ashley’s grand-parents,
by chance and luckily for us, saw an article in an English newspaper
about ChromagenTM lenses. According to this article, the ChromagenTM
haploscopic filters may not necessarily be a cure, but are a
tool to help control the words' "movement", and were
initially developed to treat colour-blind people.
Since we were unable to find a supplier in Spain that performed
the ChromagenTM test, we took our daughter out of school and
travelled with her to England.
There are no words to express the joy and excitement our
daughter's eyes conveyed when the correct combination of filters
were found for her. Her face lit up, and she declared that the
letters had "stuck to the paper". It has only been
since then that she has been able to explain to us what she
had seen before: The Ts were upside down, the As were Vs, when
we said 22 she saw TT, and all of the letters played "Ring
Around the Roses", they swam across the page, jumped and
dipped, rose and fell etc.".
Only now do we have a small idea of what she has suffered
– more than we could ever have imagined. She had had to
invent a new alphabet to try and keep up with her classes, continually
trying to focus letters that would not stay still.
Now we understand that our daughter did indeed need glasses,
not for an astigmatism or myopia, but instead to compensate
for a deficiency in her light perception.
Now with ChromagenTM Ashley can see the words without them
moving. It is, therefore, easier for her to read and write,
without skipping words and lines, and not repeat herself; but
above all it opens the doors for her to understand what she
is reading and writing, so now she can learn ...
Our daughter has lost over 3 years of her short life, living
a nightmare that she was unable to explain to anyone because
she did not have a comparable point of reference.
With ChromagenTM lenses other children will also be able
to receive a correct prescription for visual problems of this
nature (if they knew they existed) - and most probably hundreds
of thousands of children (and adults) would be able to correct
a disability that has been so easily solved for our daughter,
and many more.
I do not know how much these lenses can help with the other
symptoms of dyslexia, but in only 8 weeks Ashley has been able
to explain to us what was happening to her. She now sees correctly,
which has encouraged her to read more than 7 books with more
than 150 pages each in such a short time. She takes notes correctly,
follows and understands readings, has the ability to play with
a ball because she knows where it is, she’s not so "clumsy"
anymore, and this is just the beginning. It is a great step
forward, the first step, opening a new path for her and for
us as a family.
The ChromagenTM test was easy, fast and painless, and the
results have opened up a world of opportunities and happiness
for our daughter that she did not have before. It may not work
for everyone, but for those it does help it will change their
lives immediately.
Thanks ChromagenTM, for giving our daughter sight so that
she can look to the future with hope with the same faculties
as the rest of her classmates.
T1 year later Ashley now says "I
see a thousand times better, I feel a thousand times better,
it's easier to concentrate, I'm not scared of making new friends
and I don't feel lost at school - since I've had my ChromaGen
lenses my life is not frightening anymore...." "It's
so important that all children that have my problem try these
glasses so they can stop suffering, just like me".
